According to data compiled by the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), single-use hygiene products represent one of the fastest-growing contributors to global plastic waste. Because traditional disposables are constructed with up to 60% petroleum-derived plastics, synthetic polyester backings, and chemical bleaching agents, a single standard diaper can take up to 500 years to decompose in a landfill.
For a child who completes potty training using roughly 4,000 to 6,000 diapers, that leaves behind a personal landfill legacy that will outlive their great-great-great-grandchildren.
As a studio focused on textile innovation and softgoods engineering, we looked at this problem and realized the issue isn’t the convenience of disposables, it’s how we architect the material stack. We don’t need consumers to compromise on performance, but we need to relook at re-engineering the layers.

As a crop, it requires no pesticides, absorbs massive amounts of carbon dioxide, and grows rapidly using minimal water compared to traditional cotton or wood pulp. Bamboo also offers incredible natural performance benefits for softgoods: it is highly breathable, naturally thermo-regulating, and boasts an incredibly soft tactile hand-feel that is ideal for sensitive skin.
